Welcome to Ami's Rock N Pop Shop, featuring The Art and The Creative Upcycling Designs of Ami Albea Negron.
Professional Nanny of over 20 years, turned Rockstar Manager, in recent years Ami has been channeling all her creativity into creating fun one of a kind memorabilia for fans of Chuck Negron formerly of Three Dog Night. Her 'NEGRONIZED' line of critters featuring Chuck's Iconic 70's Mustache has been a huge hit with his fan base, and has been selling out on his website, www.chucknegron.com.
For the past 6 years Ami has spent her summers touring with Chuck Negron on The Happy Together Tour, and moonlighting as a nanny during the school year, while maintaining her career in the music business.
It's all about balance! And it is important to her to have the best of both worlds!!
Which is why she has decided to open up shop here on ETSY and branch out beyond Chuck Negron's brand and create her unique upcycled creations to feature many other iconic artists and pop culture icons from that era as well as feature some of her magical whimsical pieces inspired by her former line of OOAK Dolls at Betty Dolores Designs.
She is uncovering memorabilia and Vintage Doll Heads from the dark storage units of hoarders, collectors and sometimes even the music artists themselves, and breathing new life into them, preserving them, AND the nostalgia it provokes, all in fun and decorative ways that can be incorporated into the everyday lives of anyone who loves the music, culture, decor, and spirit of the 60’s and 70’s and sometimes even the decades that follow!
Ami's Artistic background is in doll sculpting and designing commercial Christmas décor. She is also a semi-retired Birthday Party Princess, Face Painter and Party Planner for one of a kind themed parties for children.
Now during the pandemic, Ami and her husband cannot go out on concert tour with the entertainment industry shut down.
She now has more time to focus on her creative projects and is offering creative virtual classes and workshops for kids and adults through zoom.
You can find more information on her website http://www.rocknpopshop.com
Her Educational background is in Child Development and she has more recently studied Music Business at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA.
She has been featured in DOLLS magazine and her former Birthday Party Program at The Palos Verdes Art Center was named in the Top 3 Birthday Party Destinations in Los Angeles.
Originally from Atlanta Georgia, Ami grew up listening to the music of the 60's and 70's and as she reached her pre-teen years, had developed quite a passion not only for the music, but for the spirit, the culture, and fashion of the times as well. She feels very blessed and honored to be working with so many iconic artists who created so much of the music she is so passionate about.
Considering her now, very busy schedule, Ami has found it difficult to find time to sculpt one of a kind pieces from scratch. And she has also found that the retail price of such pieces is often out of reach for her followers. So she utilizes pre-existing items, and Vintage crafting supplies and gives them her own imaginative spin, which allows her to have a less time consuming outlet for her creativity while creating fun pieces that are more affordable.
Ami also uses clippings from Vintage Magazines for much of her Upcycled Designs. She greatly enjoys perusing the magazines to find the most special imagery that might touch someone's soul and take them back to a special moment in their lives each and every time they look at it. It means a great deal to her to be able to create these unique one of a kind items for fans and for the music artists that she so greatly admires.
Her Grandmother, Betty Dolores Albea is her #1 inspiration, and after her passing she honored her memory through sculpting her dolls in her Grandmother’s name, Betty Dolores Designs.
She often incorporates her Grandmother’s vintage fabrics and other crafting supplies that she collected throughout the years, and channels her love and guidance through the use of her Grandmother's paint brushes and other tools.
Each item she creates is filled with love and the hope it will bring great joy!
Ami is so passionate about her creations that she often wants to keep them all for herself!! But instead she captures them in photographs and passes them on in with hope that they will bring a smile to others and that a little piece of the music and the legacy of the artists that created it will live on through her creations.
